With over twenty-five years of professional experience in the entertainment industry, Joe Vaz has worked most facets of the business.

Actor in Good Omens, Dredd, Black Sails & more. Writer for NMP DSTV & Callsheet. Founder and editor of Something Wicked anthology series. He has published short stories in the British Fantasy Award-nominated African Monsters anthology, alongside the likes of Nnedi Okorafor, and in Jurassic London‘s The Extinction Event, alongside stories from award-winners like Becky Chambers, Adam Roberts, Lavie Tidhar and Henrietta Rose-Innes.

With a versatile and adaptable writing voice, Joe’s article strengths are entertainment and publicity pieces having freelanced for Callsheet, Multichoice, TV PLus, and Something Wicked – handling interviews, reviews, synopses and op-ed pieces on books, films, television shows, actors and authors.

His background in the entertainment industry gives him a keen insight into the workings of film and television production.

Joe also has extensive script-writing experience.
His written and directed short-film, Blue Valentine (co-scripted with Vianne Venter) was an Official Selection at the Durban International Film Festival, 2005.

Through 2008/2009 Joe was one of the core team of three writers on E-TV series Cool Catz and produced around forty scripts for the 22-minute, daily live-action children’s show.

Through 2013/2014 Joe worked as one of the core team of three scriptwriters for Bubblegum Productions’ animated shows, Learn Like Lerato, Squigglemajig, and Lost Book (unproduced).

He is currently working on two children’s adventure books and developing a 13-part supernatural drama series for television.
